Overall, there is one Catholic Church and one Baptist church not attended. Nuns are on site, helping people with the community clinic. The word of God has not been spread enough. People do not have Jesus in their lives, and do not have electricity.
LVM have decided to put in place an evangelization program to bring Jesus (the light of the world) to Luila Village, reach out to nonbelievers, bring revival to older Christians, and to train disciples.
LVM with our partners will initially use the door to door techniques using megaphones. Useful gifts such as salt, soap, coffee, matches will be needed. A car to transport materials and pastors will be needed. We will train local church staff for follow up.
In addition, people in Luila Village do not have electricity. The majority of people use kerosene lamps or oil lamps that they make themselves with a can. Children cannot read or study in the evening. Life is very difficult for the families because of the lack of electricity. Kerosene is not only very expensive but is also a cause of many accidents and health problems.
LVM plan on distributing very high quality, long lasting and affordable solar lights to replace unhealthy and unsafe traditional lighting means. The lack of electricity is one of the factors that makes evangelism very difficult. Bible session in the evening cannot take place since people work in the farms during the day. |
